    Our 2026 Sports Awards Evening was a fantastic celebration of the outstanding achievements, commitment and sporting success of our students throughout the year. The event was extremely well attended by students, families, staff and guests, creating a wonderful atmosphere as we came together to recognise the hard work and dedication shown across all areas of school sport. Throughout the evening, awards were presented across a wide range of sports, highlighting excellence at both participation and performance levels. Students were recognised not only for their sporting achievements but also for demonstrating leadership, resilience, teamwork and a positive attitude. Individual awards celebrated those who have consistently excelled and represented the school with pride, while certificates were presented to many students in recognition of their effort, improvement and contribution to school sport. The evening provided an opportunity to reflect on another successful year for the PE department, with students competing in numerous fixtures, tournaments and events. It was inspiring to see so many young people rewarded for their commitment and enthusiasm. We would like to congratulate all award winners and certificate recipients, and thank parents, carers and staff for their ongoing support. The Sports Awards Evening was a fitting way to celebrate an exceptional year and the many achievements of our talented student athletes. #ThistleyHoughAcademy #CreativeEducationTrust

    Our U15 cricket team travelled to face Denstone College in what proved to be a highly competitive and closely contested fixture. Despite ultimately falling to a narrow defeat, the boys produced an excellent performance that they should be extremely proud of. Batting first, our team showed great composure and determination at the crease. In the field, the players worked tirelessly, displaying good energy, sharp fielding, and disciplined bowling throughout the innings. The match remained in the balance for long periods, with both teams competing hard and refusing to give an inch. Denstone College eventually edged ahead and secured the victory, but the result does not reflect just how close the game was. Most importantly, the students represented the school superbly with their attitude, effort, and sportsmanship. They demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and a willingness to fight for every run until the very end. Well done to all involved.     U15 Rounders Success for Team THA! Thistley Hough Academy proudly participated in the U15 Rounders Competition this week, and what a fantastic performance it was! Despite six members of the squad playing up an age group – and in some cases, two age groups – the team rose to the challenge brilliantly. They secured impressive victories in two of their three matches and narrowly lost the third by just half a rounder. Finishing joint first overall, the team unfortunately missed out on a place in the City Finals, with the winner having to be decided on total rounders scored across the tournament. It was the closest of margins, but an outstanding achievement nonetheless. Considering the significant age gap for more than half of the squad, this performance demonstrates tremendous skill, determination, and team spirit. We could not be prouder of the players and the way they represented the Academy. Well done, Team THA – a magnificent achievement and a credit to the school. We would also like to wish our Year 7 and Year 8 rounders team the very best of luck in their final on Friday 10th July. We're all behind you! #ThistleyHoughAcademy #CreativeEducationTrust

    Sports Leader success! We are incredibly proud of our Sports Leader applicants who recently visited Northwood to support the Stoke primary schools athletics event. Throughout the day, our students helped to run a variety of activities and events, showing fantastic leadership, organisation, and communication skills. They worked confidently with younger pupils, demonstrating enthusiasm, responsibility, and a positive attitude at all times. This was a brilliant opportunity for them to gain valuable experience and showcase their potential as future Sports Leaders.     Celebrating Our Students' Success! This week, 120 of our Young Carers and attendance prize winners enjoyed a fantastic trip to Alton Towersmade even better by the beautiful sunshine! Students had an amazing day, with many experiencing a theme park for the very first time. It was wonderful to see so many showing real bravery, especially as they tackled their first ever roller coasters! We are so proud of their efforts and thrilled to be able to reward their great attendance in the three weeks on the lead up to May Half Term What's next? In the summer term, we will be celebrating all students who have achieved our attendance target of 96% or higher with a Silent Disco event!     The Year 7 team represented the school brilliantly at the City Super 8's Athletics Competition, finishing an impressive 6th out of 14 schools. Throughout the event, students demonstrated excellent effort, determination, and resilience across all disciplines. From track sprints to field events, every competitor gave their best and supported one another, creating a strong sense of team spirit. What stood out most was the positive attitude shown by the group. Pupils approached each event with enthusiasm and focus, regardless of the challenge, and displayed great sportsmanship towards both teammates and other schools. Their willingness to step outside their comfort zones and contribute to the team's overall success was particularly commendable. Competing against strong opposition, finishing in the top half was a fantastic achievement. The experience will no doubt build confidence and motivation for future competitions.
