Children's Mental Health Week 2026 Next week, we'll be raising the profile of positive mental health across our school community. This year's theme reminds us that it's perfectly okay to feel a little odd sometimes our feelings make us human, and every emotion matters. To celebrate this message, students are encouraged to wear odd socks all week. It's a simple, fun way to show that we all have differences, and that's something to be proud of. Each morning, any student wearing odd socks will receive a Golden Ticket from their form tutor a small reward for taking part and helping us spread awareness. Let's come together, support one another, and make Children's Mental Health Week a meaningful one for everyone. #ThistleyHoughAcademy #CreativeEducationTrust

U13 Netball Team Shine at the City Tournament Our U13 netball team did the Academy proud at this week's City Netball Tournament. With a number of Y8 players out through illness and injury, two of our rising Y7 superstars stepped up brilliantly to join the squad. The girls faced a tough group but showed real determination and teamwork, winning 4 out of their 5 games including a fantastic victory over a very strong Excel Academy side to secure their place in the semi finals. In the semi finals, we breezed past Discovery Academy 6–1, securing our place in the final in style. In the finals we came up against an exceptional St Joes team, whose squad features some of the top players from clubs across Stoke on Trent and Newcastle. Despite our best efforts, we couldn't quite contain them on the day. Finishing as City Finalists is an outstanding achievement, and the team should feel incredibly proud of their performance. This experience will be brilliant preparation as we look ahead to the PGL Netball Tour in March. Well done, girls your resilience, teamwork, and spirit were fantastic to watch. #ThistleyHoughAcademy #CreativeEducationTrust

Our Year 8 girls delivered an outstanding performance in the area finals, earning a well deserved place in the regional finals after a day of determination, teamwork, and real competitive spirit. Facing eight strong opponents Crewe, Port Vale, Shrewsbury Town, Stockport County, Tranmere Rovers, Walsall, Wigan Athletic and Wrexham they showed consistency, resilience and real belief in one another throughout every match. Their journey to the final was built on smart play, relentless effort, and a brilliant attitude that never wavered, even against some very established academy sides. The final against Tranmere Rovers was a tense, hard fought contest, ending in a narrow defeat on penalties. Despite the loss, the girls walked away with their heads high, having achieved something truly special. Reaching the regional finals is a fantastic accomplishment and a moment of real pride for our school. Their success sets a brilliant example for everyone. #ThistleyHoughAcademy #CreativeEducationTrust
