Should my child change school?

If your child’s move to Year 7 is not going as well as you had hoped, you might be surprised to hear that options are still open for you.

There are lots of reasons why children may not settle well into a new school.  Many of these may be overcome by talking over any concerns you may have with your child’s current school, and we would always recommend taking this course of action initially.

However, if you feel that your child may be better suited to another school, our friendly and dedicated Student Support team is on hand to provide you with advice and guidance to help make the transition as smooth as possible for you and your child.

Here at Thistley Hough Academy, we make no apologies for instilling traditional values and standards to help provide our students with the confidence to achieve their goals. Our GCSE results are the best ever for the third year running and, we are in Stoke-on-Trent’s Top 3 Performing Schools.

Creativity is rewarded alongside academic achievements, and specialist support is always available to our students. We believe that every child should have the chance to transform their opportunities through life, by providing a well-rounded curriculum, both in and outside the classroom.

Our clubs and after-school activities are thriving, with diverse subjects from Dance to Football, and the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme to Latin.

Transferring to the Thistley Hough Academy is a straight-forward process. We complete all the paperwork on your behalf, and place your child in the class most suitable for them.

In addition, for students currently in Year 7, not only can we offer a space, we are also able to provide support for a replacement uniform.

In fact, it’s possible that your child could be studying in new surroundings from the very next day.

We invite you to come and see for yourself. Meet our staff and other Year 7 students, and take a tour around our state-of-the-art facilities.

Our Principal, Holly Hartley, will personally welcome you to the school.

You’re welcome to drop in at a time to suit you, but a phone call ahead of your visit would be appreciated if possible.

Either way, the door is open.

If you would like to organise a visit to Thistley Hough Academy, please call our team on 01782 883500, email us at office@thistleyhough.org.uk or drop in. We’re in the heart of Penkhull at Thistley Hough, ST4 5JJ

We look forward to welcoming you.
