Weekly Newsletter – Christmas Holiday 2018 / Important Information

Dear Parents/Carers

Christmas Holiday 2018 / Important Information

I am writing to inform you that the Academy will close for the Christmas Holidays at 2:00pm on Friday 21st December 2018. The Academy will reopen to students on Tuesday 8th January at 8.40am as normal. I wish to remind parents/carers that all students must be in full Academy uniform and should have basic equipment at all times. Please see overleaf for a reminder of basic equipment and uniform expectations.

Reminders/Information

Inset Day                                 Wednesday 12th December

Year 10 Parents’ Evening        Thursday 13th December

Christmas Jumper Day            Friday 14th December.

(Donations for Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank requested)

Tins and packet food items donated for Christmas Jumper Day will be delivered to the Foodbank before Christmas to assist families in need during this time.

I wish to remind parents that students should leave the Academy premises by 4:30pm every day unless they are attending a supervised activity with a member of staff, or in cases of emergency. We currently have a number of students who are remaining on the premises beyond this time and are unable to supervise those who are not in scheduled activities or classes.

May I also take this opportunity to encourage parents/carers to ensure that students attend every day and arrive on time.  The law states that it is a legal responsibility of a parent/carer to ensure that a child of compulsory school age receives full time education.

A clear outline of the Academy’s Uniform Policy, Attendance Policy and further information can be found on our website at www.thistleyhoughacademy.org.uk.

With best wishes

Jayne Schofield

Acting Principal
